…I often come across the modern culture in a magazine or on the internet. Bill and Stan, two friends who live here, brought over a stack of magazines the other night. I started reading this piece in a somewhat current issue of New York Magazine about these young artists in New York. God I am glad that I escaped that madness way back when. The whole culture, especially New York and its schtick really amazes me. It is like Fellini’s “Satyricon” come to life in this New Century. Gold Leafed Turds…. art pieces splattered with questionable body fluids of the male gender…I mean really…but yes, I do remember my young days before India. I am so lucky to have gotten out alive. I never really fit there anyway…on the outside looking into the Mystery beyond the pretense of Pose and Swagger…the weird scenes of wonder that were my youth are somehow softened and now glorified beyond style. Gratitude is in order. Rave on….By the way, that is Patrice Wynne and I on the day of the groundbreaking for the chapel.
Chapel of Jimmy Ray Blog
Fools, Angels, and Insects
Yes, It is true: Fools rush in where angels fear to tread because of fear of Insect bites and such…..and Jimmy Ray and I had a great time at last Sunday’s Groundbreaking. He arrived on Lolita, our Beloved Burra and wowed the crowd with a Frank Cilantro….I mean Sinatra song….what a guy!!!! The whole event was spontaneous and Jimmy Ray wowed the crowd with his singing.
Clearing Time…Constructing
Well we buried the time capsules of objects that people brought for the Groundbreaking….very exciting. Also we started clearing the area where the banos (bathrooms) will be for the Chapel. Now that is more exciting. And to top it off…I am manifesing the dinero to construct the reconstruction…Totally cool….a deep ahhhh in allowance and reflection……ahhhhhhhhhhhh
Groundbreaking
Yesterday on April Fools Day we had the gala groundbreaking for The Chapel of Jimmy Ray. Someone said there were 350 people here. It was quite festive to say the least. Richard took some photos and I will include them in the blog on future dates. However, here are two shots of some who attended. Tomorrow Michael Raven will be out here to lay out the plans for the bathrooms. It is actually happening. Here is the big question: How ya gonna pay for it Anado? Hmmmmmmm
El Fuego
Well we nipped a fire in the bud today down at the chapel sight. It is the dry season here in our area. Carlos and Miguelito had done some clearing yesterday. They burned some old grasses and branches in a ravine below the sight. Afterwards they put water on it. But not enough it seems. Later in the day they covered it with debris that was both dry grasses and soil (for composting). Today Miguelito saw lots of smoke down there and we almost had a big problem. We covered the whole area with water and we saved the lower ravine, which is very wooded, from any damage. Gracias, Miguelito!!!!!!
I Can’t Get to Sleep
I am having trouble getting to sleep tonight. I can’t seem to relax into this mind that is full of ideas and projections. This Groundbreaking Gala is going to be a big event. Anado and Jimmy Ray have put it on the line…people are coming and there is a lot to do. Tonight we had dinner with Patrice, Kathy, and David…they gave me a good reality check about getting this organized….what a trip. So here I am now…trying to organize something in my head while trying to rest. Tomorrow some lists will begin…I embrace the challege….I would like to embrace some sleep tonight……….ahhhhhhh
