A Hallmark Moment in Mexico
Every so often, one must take a respite.
Here at Casa Las Ranas, we have many animals to choose from to enjoy those special moments at home watching a British Television Series on DVD’s. That is Pearla the Dog and Cielo the Cat…two of our divine friends…oh…and that is me as I recline with my friends while simutaneously approaching my 60th Birthday like a wisened pinko faerie living the good life in Mexico with my “Long Time Companion” who took this picture….Love is all you need!
The Ganesh Groove
The Ganesh mural is happening in a good way. Starting to sparkle aplenty. Richard took a couple of photos this am while Carlos and I were working. There is so much to do. “What will be…will be”, as Doris Day used to say..or was it Dinah Shore..? “I’m so excited…are you excited?” Anyhow Ganesh is here to remove some obstacles to create the time for all this work to happen. Spring is really springing around here and the garden shows it…..everything is green and budding. I love watching it unfold. Michael the Architect was here yesterday….we may be building a toilet house real soon near the chapel sight…getting our feet wet with design and construction….Groove on!!!!!
Amongst Hummingbirds
This afternoon I was working on the mural. Having a good old time. I started noticing the flutter of hummingbird wings behind me as I worked. A number of those little critters were watching me as I painted. I felt quite flattered that I was able to be part of their world…they are such incredible creatures. I wonder if they noticed my black and white check socks? I have this op art thing going on today. There was a whole gaggle of people out here today on a tour with this woman from San Francisco….it was fun and it felt good to have so many Northern Californians around….appreciative people! Gotta run…dinner is ready!
Met With Michael
I had my third official meeting with my architect friend, Michel Raven , yesterday. He constructed a cardboard working replica of the Chapel. It is all quite wonderful…somehow he is able to conjure the “lost” design of the mythical chapel. Jimmy Ray is very impressed and quite frankly so am I. In the meantime I am receiving ideas from Jimmy Ray while working in the studio. I had another class yesterday. Two more groups of shoppers and lookers coming out today. We have twenty two coming out from SF MOMA on Monday…this is histerical. I need to make a bunch of necklaces. The mural will never be finished by Monday…that is for sure…maybe Santa will bring me some extra days….. By the way…in the previous post…who is that blond working away on the right in the photo? Is that Lovey in disguise?
Workin’ Away with Jimmy Ray
Jimmy Ray has me working my ass off. Classes, visitors…the mural in progress. I am a busy man and still I don’t get enough work done. We never expected all these people interested in this house. They call from out of nowhere. But it is a blessing and our dream is not just imagined but it is tactile and accessable…did I spell that right? March 8…Richard and I will have been dancing on this planet together for eight years. My Mother would have been 91 on that day. Once, I believed that I may have been an alcoholic…it did’nt pan out. But I said that March 8 was my AA Birthday…in honor of my Mother, Marie…who found away out of her nightmare with alcohol…Love the Mother…Love the Work…Listen for the Silence.
